Oregon-inspired Basketball courts

If you haven't seen the Oregon basketball court yet, it's ... well, I'll say different.
Freelance designer took the idea and applied it to other courts across the nation. Would love to play on the KFC Yum! Center. Check out the rest here.

A Post too far?

The New York Post cover today had a picture of the 17-year old high school girl that reportedly had a relationship with Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez. This has little to do with design and more to do with the choice of putting a minor's picture on the cover. Here's the page:

Loco for (hockey) Logos

Yeah, it's just hockey, so don't get too excited. But, with help of others, I came across two interesting posts yesterday about team's and their logos.

Wayne Kamidoi from the New York Times shared an interesting article on the Times website about the Tampa Bay Lighting logo.

Charle's Apple's ACES blog tells us about a Whaler's logo that was ripped off.

Super Bowl XLV postgame

Ben Howard from The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette sends it's page from the game. They stuck with more than one main photo as they did in the AFC title game.  The Pittsburgh Tribune Review sends in their cover to a 22-page special section they did. I do wonder why there is black screen with white lines, drop shadows on everything, and why the text isn't bold/heavy on the words "must wait." They might have had staff photogs there, but a head shot of Keisel was the best option? Let me know.
Also, the Dallas Morning News and two Star-Ledger pages: A preview, and the monday gamer. And as an extra added bonus, a page from Luke Knox and the Boston Globe highlighting Terrific Tom's unanimous MVP.

Super Bowl XLV from Dallas Morning News

Ronnie Richard sends in some pages from the Dallas Morning News. John Hancock promises more tonight, but until then we'll start with these. The Aaron Rodgers illo and layout and the Ben Roethlisberger illo and layout are by John Hancock. Ronnie Richard's layout worked well with the Michael Hogue Lombardi/Landry illustration.

SportsDay at the Dallas Morning News pumped out some sharp work this week.
The team of John Hancock, Michael Rogue, Ronnie Richard and Chris Morris shines.
