Gone. and Gone.

We have all seen the LeBron cover from the Plain Dealer.
But another Plain Dealer cover I came across used the word "Gone." to describe the exit of another former Cleveland athlete — Brady Quinn. Not quite the same impact (although that day made my authentic Quinn Browns jersey completely unwearable ... ugh).

Steelers win, Jets lose

Ben Howard with page from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Also, the Star-Ledger cover, with Chris Faytok photo. Ronnie Richard shares his page from the Dallas Morning News with an assist from John Hancock on the graphic at the bottom of the page. I'm sure with the Super Bowl being in Dallas, we'll be seeing much from them in the future. Luke Knox and the Boston Globe also share their page.

Championship week primer

Michael Sansone of the Chicago Tribune was nice enough to share some work with SDO. These pages are a lead-up to the NFC title game. There is also a Seahawks pages from last week. My favorite is the time line from the double truck. Tons of information presented cleanly. Very smart.
Ben Howard shares the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette preview cover by Daniel Marsula and Steve Ziants.
The Ledger pages were done by me ... Had fun doing the Rex photo illo. Great main on cover from beat writer Jenny Vrentas.
I ate and slept FGs all week. Page tracked every field goal in Heinz Field history. Tracked misses and makes in frozen weather and winds more than 15 mph.

A Modest Beginning

This isn't the original sportsdesigner.com.
I could never match their level of success. At best, it's a small twig that has broken off a larger branch that has fallen off a much larger tree.
After seeing a thread on sportsjournalists.com asking for a site to view sports design, I figured a simple blog to access and share the content that we help create is more than a useful too.
So, please send your fronts. This won't be like flickr where everything from everywhere gets posted. But don't hesitate to send. My goal is to try to post the best of the best/preview sections/special sections, etc.
Send mail to: drw101@gmail.com
you can also follow me and site updates at twitter.com/danworthington
This will either take off, or crash and freaking burn.
Here's a page from me to get us started. It's from after the Jets playoff victory over the Colts. Like it? Hate it? Like the site? Hate the idea?
Feel free to let me know. I'll slowly be adding and taking comments from those interested. Now please, I need your work. Send in JPEGs if you can for now.
Keep file size small. And I'll get up as much work as I can.
